Nina contributed an article and artwork to the Peruvian-based international web magazine REVOLUTIONART, issue 15.         The main topic of this issue is "DREAMS". 

Her article is on pages 119-122 and the artwork on page 86. This magazine is in PDF format which you can download as a zip file.

Mal wieder ein paar Worte aus dem Skew Siskin Camp:

Wenn ihr Interesse habt, oder einfach nur neugierig seid, euch mal schlau zu machen daüber, welche Art von Equipment Skew Siskin so benutzen, dann dürfte der Artikel im SOUNDCHECK (Oktober Ausgabe) ganz dienlich sein. Der Artikel ist von Accu Becher, der uns auf der Mai Tour in Köln besuchte.

Wer schon immer wissen wollte, welche Tattoos Nina sich hat stechen lassen und warum, wann und wie, lest mal den METAL HAMMER (Oktober Ausgabe). Der Artikel ist von Andreas Schöwe, der uns in Berlin auf ein paar Drinks traf.

Vor Jahren hatten wir es mal angerissen: Wir hatten mal mit Udo Lindenberg was auf Deutsch geplant, was dann aber aus Familiären Gründen nicht stattfand.

Ein paar Leute erinnern sich vielleicht, das wir Ende 2004 als Vorprogramm von Udo & Co in der Berliner Max Schmeling Halle spielten.

Wie dem auch sei, es resultierte daraus mittlerweile etwas ganz anderes: 

Jim und ich haben fuer Udo Musik geschrieben, auf dem er nun getextet hat. 

Das ganze heisst "VON HILDESHEIM NACH ALZHEIM" und ist auf seiner Platin Edition "STARK WIE ZWEI" zu hörn.  Ein sehr gelungener Text, wie wir finden. Ahoi, wie Udo zu sagen pflegt und gratulation zum Wahnsinns Erfolg Udo!

A few words from the Skew Siskin camp: 

If you’re interested, or just curious, to know what equipment Skew Siskin are using, then check out an article in the current October issue of SOUNDCHECK magazine, German version.  It’s written by Accu Becher, who saw us at Cologne on our mini tour, May this year.

Those who always wanted to learn about Nina’s tattoos, where she got them from, from whom and why, should read the October issue of METAL HAMMER magazine.  The piece was written by Andreas Schoewe who visited us in Berlin for a few drinks.

Years ago, we mentioned that we planned to work with Udo Lindenberg, which obviously never happened, due to family issues.  Some of you may also remember that we supported him at Max-Schmeling Halle in 2004. Well, something completely different evolved from all this.  Udo digs our riffs and grooves a lot, so Jim and I composed him some music which he wrote lyrics to. The song is called “VON HILDESHEIM NACH ALZHEIM” and can be heard on the Platinum Edition of his current album “STARK WIE ZWEI”. His lyrics are full of humour and I like his style a lot. Ahoi (as Udo says) and congratulations to this amazing success!

It may be is a few months gone already but it’s still important enough to mention:

SONG WRITING STARTET JETZT / TOUR GALLERY

So, nach kurzer Verschnaufpause sind wir wieder zurück im Monongo Studio Berlin. 

Die Shows unserer Mini-Tour liefen allesamt durchweg gut, die Fans waren einsame Klasse, Band bestens gelaunt, und das Wetter genial! Ausser in Spananien, wo es regnete, aber wen interessiert schon das Wetter, wenn es um Rock'n'Roll geht!

Dass Stephan (der Weidner) hoechstpersoenlich in Barcelona zum Konzert auftauchte, haben ja viele sicherlich schon auf seiner Seite gelesen!? Es war jedenfalls eine obercoole Aktion. Wer fliegt schonmal ebend herum, nur um eine Band zu sehen ;)

Wir widmen uns denn nun dem Song schreiben für den Nachfolger von "Peace Breaker". Es sind schon einige Ideen am Start, die wir demnächst einhämmern werden. Bald gibt es aber sicherlich mehr über dies zu berichten. 

SONG WRITING STARTS / TOUR GALLERY

Well, after a short breather we’re back in the Monongo Studio in Berlin .

The shows on our mini-tour last month all went extremely well, the fans were wild, the band were in high spirits, and the weather was awesome -- except in Spain, where it rained endlessly, but who cares about the weather in Rock ‘n’ Roll anyway ;)

And thanks to all the really cool support bands!

Some of you would already know that Stephan (Weidner) came to visit us in Barcelona , which he wrote about on his web site.  That was definitely a very cool thing…I mean, only a few would catch a plane just to see a show!  ;)

We’ve now committed ourselves to writing the follow up to “Peace Breaker”.  There are already a few ideas in our pockets which we’re gonna record soon.  More to report about this in the near future.

SPANISH SHOWS

DRUMMER WECHSEL !

Randy Black wird ab sofort aus zeitlichen Gründen nicht mehr bei Skew Siskin spielen. Wie ihr alle wisst spielt Randy hauptsächlich bei Primal Fear und DuskMachine, und, wenn ihr mal einen Blick auf Randy’s Myspace Website werft (empfehlenswert), versteht jeder sofort, dass es bei Randy’s Tourplan auf die Dauer einfach nicht mehr zu schaffen ist, beide Bands unter einen Hut zu bringen. Spätestens im Herbst hätte es nicht mehr hingehauen. Daher hatten wir uns schon vor Wochen auf Randy’s Empfehlung hin gemeinsam darauf verständigt, ab sofort nach einem permanenten Drummer Ausschau zu halten.

Als Randy anfang 2005 zu Skew Siskin kam hatten wir eigentlich damit gerechnet, dass es nur für einige Monate gut gehen würde da seine Verpflichtungen bei Primal Fear Vorrang hatten. 

Mittlerweile sind 3 Jahre vergangen und in dieser Zeit haben wir mit Randy eine Reihe fantastischer Liveshows gespielt und zusammen unser aktuelles Album „Peace Breaker“ recordet. Bei diesen Recordings hat Randy die Messlatte in Punkto Drumming bei Skew Siskin definitiv um einiges höher gehängt. Daher bitte noch einmal einen spezial Applaus für Randy und von uns ein grosses Dankeschön für die musikalische Zusammenarbeit und die gute Zeit.

 

So, und jetzt kommts . . . !!

Das neue Gesicht am Schlagzeug hoert auf den Namen Sansi Janiba und wird bei SKEW SISKIN ab sofort die Drumfelle bearbeiten!!! ( Bitte nochma applaudiern' !)

 Sansi lebt seit einigen Jahren in Berlin und hat in verschiedenen Bands hier die Scene unsicher gemacht. Er ist der geborene Rock’n Roll Drummer mit dem dazugehörigen immensen Verschleiss an Drum Fellen und Drum Stoeckern, was ihn zum gerngesehen Dauerkunden in den hiesigen  Musikgeschäften macht. Dass kommt davon wenn man zu seinen Lieblingsbands u.a. die Ramones zählt.

Ihr werdet in den nächsten Wochen noch mehr von Sansi hören. Zur Zeit bereiten wir uns täglich im Übungsraum auf die kommenden Shows vor und Sansi verabreicht unseren Songs eine Wahnsinnswucht und tierisch Drive.

In Spanien wird Sansi mit uns seinen Einstieg feiern und danach bei den Deutschen Gigs mit allen unseren Fans auf Augenhoehe sein. Maximum Rock’n Roll !!

NEW DRUMMER !

Randy Black is leaving Skew Siskin due to ongoing colliding schedules. As many of you know, he’s the drummer of Primal Fear and DuskMachine if you take a look at his MySpace page (recommended) you'll understand straight away that it wouldn't be possible for him to get all bands under one hat, especially around autumn. We therefore took Randy’s advice to look for a permanent drummer and agreed that this is the way it should go.

When Randy started to play with Skew Siskin in 2005, we thought that it wouldn’t last for more than a few months as he was committed to Primal Fear.  Yet, three years have past during which we had a lot of great shows together and also recorded our current album “Peace Breaker” with him, where he definitely pushed the Skew Siskin drum skills to higher levels. Therefore, please give a special applause to Randy once more, and we say “A BIG THANK YOU!!”

Well, and here we go...!!

The new face behind the SKEW SISKIN drumkit listens to the name Sansi Janiba (another applause please).  From now on, he'll work the drum skins!!!  

Sansi has been living in Berlin for a few years and brought chaos to the scene with a few bands. He’s the born Rock ’n’ Roll drummer with voracity to wear away drum skins and drum sticks, which makes him a welcome guest in the local music stores. That’s the “problem” when you add Ramones to your favorite bands list.

You will hear more about Sansi in the near future.  At the moment, we’re getting ready for the shows, spending every day in the rehearsal room, with Sansi adding a beast-like heavy power dose to drive our songs.

We celebrate Sansi’s ‘welcome to Skew Siskin’ in Spain, and he will be eye to eye with all our fans on the German Dates. Maximum Rock ’n’ Roll!!

Hallo Leute,
hier mal wieder ne kurze Zwischennote an euch, und, ja, wir sind noch am Leben...

Seit der Tour letztens im Dezember 2007 sind wir tierisch am routieren mit veröffentlichungen in Spanien, Schweiz und Scandinavien. Da gibts ne Menge zu tun und viele Leute, die viele Dinge brauchen und von uns wissen wollen. Immer geht's ans eingemachte ;) !
Da wir letztes Jahr unser eigenes Label MONONGO gegruendet haben, gibt es ebend etwas mehr Arbeit auf dem Tisch.

Aber jetzt zu den wirklich wichtigen Dingen. Einige haben es ja schon laengst mitbekommen:
Im Januar hat Nina ein Duett eingesungen mit Stephan Weidner (ex- basser und Kopf of Boehse Onkelz).

here’s a quick sign-in amidst all the chaos and, yes, we are still alive...
 
Since the last tour, in December 2007, we’re working like maniacs. We had releases in Spain, Switzerland and Scandinavia. There’s a lot to do while many people want to know so many things from us. We're really scraping for breath now! ;)  Because we founded our own label MONONGO, there’s just more work landing on the desk
 
But now onto the real meaningful/important issues. Maybe a few have already noticed:
In January, Nina joined Stephan Weidner (ex-bassist and head of germany's most famous band: Boehse Onkelz) to record a duet for his new album.
